Seventeen years have passed since I started working in the casino industry. It’s evolution from humble beginnings is now barely recognizable.
Over the past two decades, the online casino industry has undergone a remarkable transformation, evolving from a fledgling endeavour into a global billion-dollar industry. At its inception, online casinos were relatively modest, with limited games and a small player base. However, advancements in technology, the proliferation of the internet, and a growing acceptance of online gambling have propelled this industry to astonishing heights. Moreover, the convenience of being able to play using mobile devices while on the go has made online casinos increasingly profitable.
The global reach of the online casino industry cannot be understated. Regulatory frameworks and licensing have been established to ensure fair play and responsible gambling, fostering trust and credibility in the industry, while new markets are continually explored. The industry has burgeoned into a billion-dollar behemoth, with revenues soaring as more individuals embrace the allure of virtual gaming.
I began working in the industry for what was then the third largest online casino operator in the world as a graphic designer in London. As the industry grew it found a new headquarters in Malta thanks to their licensing and regulatory framework, which is where I found myself some years further down the line as a UX designer.
