Sportsbook

With most operators wanting to offer both casino and sportsbook products to this customers, it’s inevitable that most designers in the industry will have had experience with both platforms

Although my focus, certainly of late, has been on gaming and casino products, I have at times worked on sportsbook. Marketers like to cross sell one platform to the other user group, giving the operator as a whole a boost to their revenue. This usually works best if you can get a sportsbook user to play in the casino, which is a more profitable product.

The first encounter I had with sportsbook was my own venture with a business partner designing and building an accumulator bet comparison app for the iPhone, Accabetta. Later, Betsson Group took an interest and took me in to help with the UI on their own sportsbook product. One of my first jobs with the group was to design a new concept for the mobile sportsbook using their new desktop site as a starting point. After this I become more engrossed in the casino products.

The sportsbook in general is not a simple product, particularly in logic and user flow, and the team grew to over 20 strong UX team. While I’ve been predominantly casino focussed at Betsson, I’m still familiar with sportsbook and not averse to getting stuck in again should the opportunity arise.
